Crescent Cookies

Here’s another cookie that I made with my Grandma. These go on the infamous cookie plates she gives out every year along with countless other varieties. I think these would also be good with a jam filling or even chocolate! Try it out a bunch of different ways if you want. Here’s how we made them.

1/2 lb. butter at room temperature

1 cup sour cream

2 cups flour

1 stick melted butter

1 cup finely chopped walnuts

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. cinammon

1 cup powdered sugar

Cream butter and sour cream together in an electric  mixer. Slowly add in the flour while mixing on low speed. Divide dough into 5 equal sized balls and refrigerate overnight.

Mix together the walnuts, sugar and cinammon and set aside.

Take a ball and roll it out into a circle about the size of a dinner plate. Brush with the melted butter. Cut it into 8 triangles like you would a pizza. Put a heaping teaspoon of the walnut mixture on the large side of each triangle like this. As you can see, you do not have to roll it out or cut it absolutely perfectly:

Now roll the crescent from the wide end of the triangle toward the middle. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush with melted butter. Bake at 350 F for 20-30 minutes. Just keep checking them after 20 minutes so you don’t burn them! After they come out of the oven, while they are still very hot, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
